Conservative Candidate for Gedling:
Carolyn Abbott, 48, has been selected as the Conservative candidate for Gedling at the 2017 General Election. She previously contested Gedling for the Conservatives at the 2015 General Election.
Carolyn runs a wrought iron manufacturing business with her Blacksmith husband, Andrew, and previously worked in the financial sector. She is also a School Governor and an assistant captain of a ladies' hockey team.
Commenting on her selection, Carolyn said: "I am delighted to be given the opportunity to contest Gedling once again for the Conservatives after the very close result last time.
"I have a track record of campaigning in the constituency and want to promote economic regeneration to boost our high streets in Arnold, Carlton and Mapperley.
"This election is also a clear choice for voters in Gedling between the strong and stable leadership of Theresa May and Jeremy Corbyn propped by the SNP and others.
"We also need a Government who can get the best possible deal from Brexit, and lock in the country's economic progress, and this can only be secured by voting Conservative."
